Jennifer is passionate about helping others overcome obstacles and gain insight and strategies to improve their daily lived experience. She believes therapy is a tool to help individuals build strengths to navigate life’s challenges, with the goal to move towards personal growth and independence. Jennifer understands that we all experience difficult seasons in our lives where we can end up feeling stuck and overwhelmed and has a passion for helping people discover their purpose, passions and priorities that sometimes get hidden with life’s hardships. She strives to provide clients with a safe, genuine, and supportive environment to assist with personal and relational healing.
Jennifer’s goal is to provide quality mental health care for those who are over 16, through therapeutic approaches that support with issues related to grief and loss, family conflict, life transitions, relationship issues, depression, stress, anxiety, self-esteem, bullying, parenting, traumatic life events, chronic pain and illness, and daily life challenges.
Jennifer’s approach is largely solution focussed utilizing evidence-based interventions that draw from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) and Motivational Interviewing to help clients learn how to identify and cope with their emotions, challenge unhelpful thoughts and learn skills to cope with life’s challenges, building on personal strengths. She believes in treating the whole person, looking at the physical, mental, relational, and spiritual needs of each client. It is important for her to find a way for client and therapist to work together to encourage and strengthen the client’s ability to find meaning and satisfaction in life.
When requested, Jennifer can provide a Christian, faith-based perspective in combination with counselling, that would explore purpose for painful circumstances and hope to restore one’s life through a Biblical foundation.
Jennifer is a Registered Social Worker through the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers, holding an Honours Bachelor of Social work from the University of Waterloo and a Master of Social Work from Dordt University.
Jennifer offers both virtual and in person sessions and would be happy to complete a complimentary discovery call.
