INDIAN HEAD MASSAGE has been practiced in India for thousands of years. It evolved from a technique to keep hair healthy, long, and thick to reducing stress and tension and providing many other potential benefits, by combining the best elements of head and body massage.
CERTIFIED INDIAN HEAD MASSAGE PRACTITIONERS are Complementary Alternative Medicine (CAM) professionals who have studied and are trained to use techniques on the head, scalp, and face, as well as on neck, shoulders, upper back, and upper arms.
Indian Head Massage is a specialization of LaLa Dykstra, who completed IHM studies and training to become a Certified Indian Head Massage Practitioner.
IHM is a very unique treatment. Individuals carry so much tension in shoulders, neck, face, and scalp. Massage of the upper back, shoulders and neck, combined with facial and scalp pressure points and massage techniques, is a very relaxing experience that produces noticeable reduction in tension and stress. An amazing moisturizing treatment for the hair is a bonus!
WHAT TO EXPECT:
Clients receiving Indian Head Massage lie on a massage table. This makes this a very mobile treatment which can be practiced in many locations/settings, including offices, health fairs, schools, seniors’ residences and more.
A blend of nourishing oils help hydrate and soothe the skin, scalp, and hair. The therapist uses gently firm and rhythmic strokes to help unknot blockages.
It is recommended that clients arrive hydrated to receive maximum benefit from the
the 60-minute session.
With so many individuals being desk-bound in their work, this is a way to relieve the resulting upper body tension and pain. IHM is also beneficial for people in wheelchairs, and anyone who spends lengthy periods of time in a particular posture.
You can expect to experience relaxation. After a morning appointment clients might experience an energizing, clarifying effect. Many clients enjoy blissful sleep after an evening IHM session.
